Franklin Pacific was a subcontractor to SNC-Lavalin in 2013 for the construction of a concrete water intake structure to provide a new permanent water supply to the Issaquah Fish Hatchery. The structure was constructed inside a coffer dam allowing Issaquah Creek to be diverted around the project. The new intake was founded approximately 20 feet below the existing stream bottom and hence required extensive dewatering efforts. The intake consists of a 28 foot x 46 foot x 28 foot tall concrete weir structure with a 42” diameter water inlet manifold cast into the concrete. Steel bulkheads and screen panels were installed in front of the manifold intake ports.
