Franklin Pacific was a subcontractor for Selland Construction for the construction of two bridges near Leavenworth, WA for WSDOT. The Chiwaukum Creek bridge consists of a 40 foot by 100 foot bridge founded on spread footings with 12 foot tall abutment walls. The superstructure is made up of 5 precast wide flange girders with a cast in place deck and bridge rail. The Wenatchee River bridge is a two span bridge founded on drilled shaft. The end abutments consist of a shaft cap and 19 foot tall abutment walls. The center pier is a single 6 foot diameter column with a hammer head cross beam to support the girders. Each span has 5 precast girders which support the 40 foot by 300 foot superstructure. The bridge alignment is on a horizontal curve which creates the necessity for a 6% superelevation in the cast in pace deck and varying overhang widths. Each of the two bridges were constructed over the environmentally sensitive waters and required extensive containment measures to protect the waters and banks. The values of the bridge work is approximately $2.6 million.
